Presentation to Head, Kheng Soon, Fung John Chye, Ng Wai Keen

Presentation to Head, Kheng Soon, Fung John Chye, Ng Wai Keen

Unlike our typical Thursday studio, today was actually our studio’s big day! There were two back-to-back critiques from morning till evening. The morning session was a cross-critique with our fellow NUS staff and students: Head of Architecture (Assoc Prof Wong Yunn Chii), Year 3 Tutor (Mr Fung John Chye), another tutor who is leading the landscape students (Assoc Prof Ng Wai Keen) and lastly, Adjunct Prof Tay Kheng Soon with his other vertical studio students.

As it was the first sharing session to most of the sit-in critique, a brief introduction was made to address the vision and mission of Gawad Kalinga (GK) and also CSI (Center for Social Innovation). Through the proposed serial visions of GK Enchanteed Farm that we envisioned, solutions were proposed in an ecologically sustainable way. For example, a permaculture zone would be initiated especially for the learning of the youths, where a recycle of energy takes place to form a relationship with one another; man, animals, buildings, and the infrastructure. On the other hand, the land is blessed with potential waterway channeling to water catchment areas at the lowland where we could also impose a bioswale system.

Looking at the photos of us in GK Enchanted Farm brings about the familiarity in us – the early mornings (that back in Singapore, we will probably still be in bed, or not to even mention getting to sleep) to Tita Linda’s varieties for breakfast, and also the early nights that we got. It was definitely a great flashback of memories when photos of us at GK Enchanted Farm were screened to them. It felt so yesterday...

Hehehehehe  J

Giggling off,
Amy
